TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A suspected terrorist identified as Khodijah or 'Y' died at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta on March 18, after allegedly drinking cleansing liquid while being confined at the Metro Jaya Police jail.

National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo explained that Khodijah was found limp at the jail’s examination room restroom and was immediately given first aid assistance from officers on guard.

“The medical team initially treated her but was unable to be saved. She eventually passed away,” said Dedi at his office today.

Based on Police’s forensic report, a dangerous substance was found inside Khodijah’s digestive system and highly believes it to be the main cause of her death. However, Dedi believes that suicide was the terrorist’s aim after being arrested by the police.

Khodijah was arrested in Klaten, Central Java, on March 14, for her involvement with terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) led by Abu Hamzah who was apprehended in Sibolga, North Sumatra.
